How to Hit Print Screen on HP Pavilion Notebooks With Vista

Capture a screenshot of a specific window or application on your HP notebook with Windows Vista to keep for your records or to share with other people. A screenshot is ideal for capturing an image of an error you are experiencing or to verify that you accomplished something. You can take a screenshot of your entire screen, or you can take a screenshot of a specific program or window.

Instructions

Entire Screen

1. Hold down the "Fn" key in the lower-left corner of the HP notebook.

2. Press the "Insert" key in the upper-right corner of the keyboard. On the lower half of the "Insert" key, the words "Prt Sc," "Prt Scn" or "Prnt Scn" appear inside of a box. You have to press the "Fn" key to access the commands on the lower half of the keys along the top row of a computer.

3. Release the keyboard keys. The screenshot is copied to the computer's clipboard and can be pasted into most word processing applications, such as Paint or Microsoft Word, and then saved.

Specific Application or Window

1. Click within the specific application or window you want to take a screenshot of.

2. Hold down the "Fn" and "Alt" keys on the keyboard.

3. Press the "Insert" key in the upper-right corner of the keyboard.

4. Release the keyboard keys. The screenshot is copied to the computer's clipboard and can be pasted into most word processing applications, such as Paint or Microsoft Word, and then saved.
