How to Mix Procion Dyes to Create New Colors
Jacquard Procion MX dyes are used extensively in dyeing clothing and fabrics, as well as in tie dyeing. Although you can purchase many different colors and shades of Procion dyes, a very particular color that you're looking for may not be available. Instead, you can mix the different dye colors together to create new and unique colors. With a little help from a mixing chart, you'll be able to experiment with color combinations.

Pour 1 part of Brilliant Yellow into a small bowl. Add 1 part Turquoise to the bowl to make bright green.
For other shades of green:
Pale Green -- Mix 1 part Brilliant Yellow with 1 part Royal Blue in a small bowl.
Chartreuse -- Mix 4 parts Brilliant Yellow with 1 part Turquoise in a small bowl.
Olive -- Mix 1 part Deep Black with 1 part Gold Yellow in a small bowl.

Pour 1 part Royal Blue into a small bowl. Add 1/2 part Toning Black and 1 part Brilliant Yellow to the bowl to make celadon. To make teal, mix 1 part Brilliant Yellow with 3 parts Royal Blue and 1 part Toning Black in a small bowl.

Pour 1 part Fuchsia into a small bowl. Add 1 part Blue Violet to make purple.
Other shades of purple:
Bright Purple -- Mix 2 parts Fuchsia with 1 part Turquoise in a bowl.
Red Violet -- Mix 4 parts Fuchsia with 1 part Blue Violet in a bowl.
Periwinkle -- Mix 2 parts Turquoise with 1 part Fuchsia in a bowl.
Eggplant -- Mix 3 parts Blue Violet with 1 part Toning Black and 2 parts Fuchsia in a bowl.
Grape -- Mix 1 part Fuchsia with 2 parts Blue Violet in a bowl.
Lilac -- Combine 2 parts True Red with Royal Blue in a bowl.

Pour 1 part Brilliant Yellow in a small bowl. Add 2 parts Gold Yellow and 1 part True Red to the bowl to create a bright orange. To make amber, combine 5 parts Brilliant Yellow with 1 part True Red in a small bowl.
