Flour the pasta machine and attachment to eliminate sticking.

Pasta dough that sticks to a pasta machine creates misshapen ravioli and causes time-consuming problems that require removing the dough from the rollers by hand. Preventing pasta dough from adhering to a ravioli machine requires manipulating the dough so that it is less sticky before rolling it through the machine. You can do this with simple kneading techniques and by using more flour to absorb the water contained in the dough. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Flour a flat, clean surface and place the pasta dough on it. Sprinkle flour on all sides of the pasta dough.

    • 2

Knead and fold the dough with your knuckles and palms for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle more flour onto the dough if it is sticking to your hands while kneading.

    • 3

Place flour on your hands and pat both sides of the dough to flatten it into a circular shape. Rub flour onto your rolling pin and roll the dough to further flatten it in preparation for rolling it through the pasta machine.

    • 4

Sprinkle flour onto the rollers in the pasta machine and onto the ravioli attachment. Flour both sides of the dough before rolling the dough through to make ravioli. The flour sops up the water so the dough does not stick to the machine.

    • 5

Hold the dough that has yet to be fed through the machine with one hand while turning the roller slowly with the other hand.
