Modern Kenmore electric stoves sold by Sears feature an electronic, push-button lockout feature that seals the oven door and disables operation of the appliance. This safety feature protects curious children from potential harm. Once locked, the oven clock still displays the time, but the Kenmore cannot be operated until the feature is shut off. Turn off all top burners and the oven itself, if the Kenmore is in use.

Push and hold the "Stop" button on the control panel for three seconds; you will hear a beep. When the "Loc" message displays on the LED panel to the left of the digital clock, the Kenmore is in locked mode and cannot be operated.

Push and hold the "Stop" button for three seconds to unlock the stove. You will hear a beep and "Loc" will disappear from the display screen.
