How to Force a Droid E-Mail to Sync

Save

Phones that run Google Android have two email applications by default: the standard Email app and the specialized Gmail app. Gmail uses a feature called "push notifications" that alert your phone almost instantly when new email is available, but the regular Email app refreshes on a timed interval. You can set the interval to as short as five minutes, but if you're waiting for an important message, you can manually check the server for new mail.

  • Press the "Power" button, and then slide the unlock tab down or to the right to unlock the screen. Press the "Home" button.

  • Press the button at the bottom of the screen to open the application drawer. Tap "Email."

  • Press the "Menu" button. Tap "Refresh."

  • Press the "Menu" button. Tap "Account Options." Tap "Email check frequency." Select "Every 5 minutes." Press the "Back" button.
