How to Block People From Commenting on YouTube


To say that YouTube users can be rude at times is an understatement. Fortunately, Google gives you several tools to protect your uploaded videos from trolls and bullies. You can choose between blocking particularly pernicious abuser from commenting on your videos or disabling all comments for a particular video. The latter requires less effort, but may come at the expense of community-building efforts.

  • YouTube account

Blocking a Particular User's Comments

  • Click on the user's YouTube name, which is displayed next to their comment.

  • Scroll down to the user's profile, which displays their userpic and an option to subscribe to their channel.

  • Click "Block User" which is located under the "Subscribe" button.

  • Click "OK" in the pop-up window that appears.

Disabling Comments on a Video

  • Sign in to YouTube. Click "Sign In" and input your user name and password. Click "OK".

  • Go to your videos. Under your username at the top, click the triangle, then click "My Videos".

  • Find the video you want to disable the comments on in the scrolldown window, then click "Edit".

  • Scroll down to the "Broadcast and Sharing Options" tab on the control panel.

  • Click "Don't allow comments" under the "Comments" header. If you do not see this option, click the "Comments" header to display the options.
