How to Import Safari Bookmarks

Safari is Apple's web browser, shipped as part of the Mac OS X operating system. If you've been using Safari as your default browser for a while but have decided to give Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or another browser a try, you'll likely want to bring your bookmarks with you. Safari includes an option to export your bookmarks as a basic HTML file, which can be read by other browsers. You can then easily import your Safari bookmarks using this file.

  • Open Safari. Select "File," then "Export Bookmarks..."

  • Select the location where you'd like to export your Safari bookmarks, and click "Save." An HTML document containing your bookmarks is created with the name "Safari Bookmarks.html."

  • Open the browser you wish to import the bookmarks into. Select the option to import bookmarks. Depending on the browser, the location of this option may vary.

  • Select the Safari bookmark file you created and saved, then click "Import" to import the Safari bookmarks into your new browser.
