Instructions

    • 1

Rinse the melon off under cold water and place it on the cutting board.

    • 2

Cut the watermelon in half lengthwise from root to tip. Cut the halves in half as well so you have four quarters of watermelon.

    • 3

Slide your knife all the way underneath the red fruit, right where it forms a line with the white rind. Do not remove the fruit from the rind.

    • 4

Make vertical cuts 1 inch apart all the way across a quarter of melon.

    • 5

Place the quarter of watermelon on its side and make a second row of 1-inch cuts from tip to root.

    • 6

Turn the melon on it's other side and make another row of 1-inch cuts through the fruit, from tip to root.

    • 7

Turn the quarter melon over into a bowl, and the cubes of melon should fall right out.

    • 8

Scrape any remaining pieces on the rind with a knife into the bowl.

    • 9

Repeat with the other quarters until all the watermelon has been cubed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't rinse the melon, any dirt left on the rind can get on the knife and into the fruit while you are cutting.

  • Always cut with the blade away from you.
