How to Cancel an eBay Auction After Someone Wins

You can cancel an eBay auction you have created after someone wins in the event that you may have listed the item by mistake or you have sold out of the item. You may have also lost the item. eBay offers sellers options to resolve any problems you have with the item you have sold; this will send a message to the buyer that you wish to cancel the item. You can also include a note or even an apology for the reason you need to cancel it. You will have to wait for the buyer to agree to cancel the auction.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your eBay account with your username and password.

    • 2

Hover over the "My eBay" link on the top right of the page, and click "Summary."

    • 3

Scroll to the sold auction item you want to cancel.

    • 4

Click "More Actions" on the left side of the auction item you have sold.

    • 5

Click "Resolve a Problem," and click "Cancel." You have the options to list the reasons for canceling the auction such as "Payment Not Received" or "Item is Sold Out."
