Airlines have different travel cabins with varying comfort levels and facilities that reflect on ticket price ranges. Normally, a customer will order a ticket in the class in which he wishes to travel. It is possible for passengers on the Taiwanese airline EVA Air to upgrade from their purchased ticket. This can either be done through the website, if you are an EVA Air frequent flyer member of the Evergreen Club, or can be purchased at check-in.
Contact an EVA Air reservation office to make your flight reservation. State that you wish to use your accumulated Evergreen miles to purchase an upgrade award. State the type of ticket that you are holding or will purchase. The ticket will be upgraded to the chosen class --if allowed by you accumulated miles-- and the miles will be deducted from your Evergreen account. You can also do this by logging into the Evergreen member section on the EVA Air website.
Contact the EVA Air ticketing office to request that your existing ticket be upgraded. Give the details of your ticket and request that your ticket be upgraded to the higher class. If there is space in the class on the flight you will be upgraded and required to pay the difference in price.
Ask the check-in staff about requesting an upgrade on checking in. The EVA Air check-in staff will give you a price to upgrade your ticket to a higher class --on EVA air the classes are Economy, Elite, Business and Premium Laurel-- if there is available space. Pay the upgrade fee to be upgraded to the higher class.
Inquire with the check-in staff about the possibility of a free upgrade. Certain things might help you such as a smart appearance, using your title, if you are on a special trip --for example honeymoon-- or if you are traveling alone. There is no specific way to get upgraded for free and it depends entirely on the state of the flight --numbers wise-- and at the discretion of the EVA Air check-in staff as to whether you may receive a free upgrade.
