How to Reset Your Twitter Password & Email

Resetting the password and registered email address for your Twitter account is a sensible security measure that can protect your account from unauthorized access. Changing your registered email address is also important if you switch email services and want to continue to receive email notifications and updates from Twitter. To reset your password and email address on Twitter, log in to your account and edit the information in the "Account Settings" page.

Reset Password

  • Launch the computer's Web browser, then sign in to Twitter.

  • Click your username in the top navigation menu, then select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.

  • Click the "Password" tab.

  • Type your current Twitter password into the "Current Password" box. Type your new password into both the "New Password" and "Verify New Password" boxes.

  • Click the "Change" button.

Reset Email

  • Launch the computer's Web browser, then sign in to Twitter.

  • Click your username in the top navigation menu, and select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.

  • Click the "Account" tab. Type your new email address into the "Email" box. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

  • Type your Twitter password into the password confirmation pop-up dialog box. Click the "Save Changes" button. This opens a yellow box containing a message asking you to confirm your email change. To do this, you'll need to access your email and verify the email address change.

  • Launch your email client. Open the email from Twitter. Click on the confirmation link in the email message. This changes and confirms your new email address.

  • Change your Twitter password regularly to prevent other users from accessing your account.
  • You can link your Twitter account to only one email address.
