How to Cut a Pavestone Wall Cap

You can cut pavestone wall caps using a circular saw equipped with a masonry blade. Pavestone caps fit over the width of the wall, but you can cut the pavestone caps to fit the length of your wall as well so that they fit the wall perfectly. Take your time and lay out the cap stone prior to making any cuts to avoid wasting your material. Even after cutting your stone, it is important to check each piece for fit before fastening it to the wall. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out all of the caps over the top of the wall end to end to cover the entire wall.

    • 2

Mark the underside of any caps that do not fit the wall with a marking crayon. Make sure that you mark the least exposed edge for cutting so that you will have the factory-finished edge exposed when possible.

    • 3

Remove each piece one at a time. Place it on a work surface. Cut along the marked line using a circular saw with a masonry blade. Move the saw carefully along the line just fast enough to allow the blade to saw through the pavestone wall cap.

    • 4

Lay the cut stone back in place and continue with this process until you've cut each one. Make sure each piece fits. Adjust any stones that do not fit by trimming them with the saw.

Tips & Warnings

  • Select pavestone caps in a color and texture that will complement the wall and surrounding landscape. The cap is the accent for the wall.

  • Wear ear, eye and face protection when operating a circular saw.
