1
Wash hands completely with antibacterial soap and warm water. Clean hands prevent contamination of the meat.
-
2
Form patties out of the ground beef with your hands. Make the patties thin and round in shape, similar to the size of patties for hamburgers. The thin size helps to freeze the meat faster.
-
-
3
Place the ground beef patties on a mesh tray or a cookie sheet. Put the patties on one layer only and leave a little space between them. A mesh tray freezes the ground beef more quickly because the cold air circulates around the food. But a cookie sheet can also be used.
-
4
Put the mesh tray or cookie sheet onto a rack in the freezer.
-
5
Leave the ground beef in the freezer for about one week, or until the ground beef is completely frozen.
-
6
Remove the frozen ground beef from the freezer and place the patties into zip-close freezer bags. Remove as much air from the bag as possible by squeezing the bags.
-
7
Place the freezer bags of ground beef back into the freezer. Take out one or more patties out when ready to cook. The freeze dried ground beef can stay in the freezer for up to several months.
