How to Make Your Own Braided Rope

A braided rope may also be used as a skipping rope.

Braiding, also known as plaiting, involves interlacing three or more strands of a certain material. The most common types of braids are hair braids and ribbon braids, although almost any material can be braided if it is flexible. Braiding rope increases its strength and durability, so it will last longer and be able to withstand more wear and tear. Braiding rope also makes an attractive woven pattern, so it can be used in jewelry projects to make bracelets and necklaces.

Slide another large paper clip over the bottom end of the braid to temporarily hold it in place. Remove the lid of the superglue. Squeeze a small drop of glue onto one of the strands at the end of the braid. Press another strand against the glue using the Q-tip. Allow the glue to air-dry. Repeat with the other two strands until all three strands are securely glued together. Remove the bottom paper clip.
