How to Adjust the Front Sights on a Mosin Nagant
The Mosin-Nagant is a .30-caliber Russian infantry rifle introduced into service in 1891. The popular models are the 91/30, M38 and M44 Carbine. The rifles are sold through surplus firearm dealers and are very popular with hunters and firearms enthusiasts. The rifles were sighted in from the factory at 200 meters, so they tend to shoot high at closer rangers. They were also sighted in with bayonets attached (or extended, depending on the model), which also shifts the point of impact when fired without the bayonet.

3
Use the wrench to turn the adjustment screw to push the front sight in the dovetail groove. To move the bullet impact point to the right, move the front sight to the left. To move the bullet impact point to the left, move the front sight to the right.

The sight adjustment tool may not fit on some models of Mosin-Nagant rifles, such as the M44 Carbine. If this is the case, place a block of wood under the barrel close to the front sight (but not directly under it) and use a brass punch and hammer to drift the front sight left or right.

5
Once the rifle is sighted in correctly, use the center punch and hammer to stake the front sight in place to keep it from drifting under recoil.
