How to Unlink a Google Account

Linking your Google account to other devices and services can be handy, but it's also valuable to know how to terminate these connections. Unlinking a Google account varies depending on the device or platform you are using.

Unlink a Google Account from an Android Device

You can link multiple Google accounts with your Android 5.0 device for purposes of synchronization. Use the Settings app to unlink an account.

Step 1

Open the Settings app and select Accounts in the User and Backup section. You may have to scroll down to find this section.

Step 2

Select Google on the list of account types.

Choose the account you want to unlink from your Android device.

Tap the three-dot menu icon and select Remove Account.

Tip

  • The appearance of your Settings app may vary slightly depending on your version of Android, the make and model of your device, and personal configuration settings.

Unlink an Email Account

Google enables you to associate a number of other email addresses with your primary Google account. Use the Google Accounts website to unlink these addresses.

Step 1

Visit the Google Accounts website and log in using your Google email and associated password.

Click Email in the Personal Info section.

Click the X icon next to the email address you want to unlink from your Google account and then press the Save button to save your changes.

Tip

  • You can't unlink your primary or recovery email address.

Unlink a YouTube Channel from Your Google Account

Take advantage of YouTube's Unlink Account page to unlink a YouTube channel from your Google account. Visit the YouTube Unlink Account page, log in using your Google credentials and follow the prompts to unlink your Google account from your YouTube channel.

When you unlink your account, your YouTube channel reverts to the original identity you used when you signed up for YouTube.

Unlink an AdSense Account from a Google Analytics Account

Unlinking your AdSense account from your Google Analytics stops AdSense from sending and receiving data from Analytics.

Step 1

Log in to your AdSense account using a Google Account with administrative privileges, click the Gear icon and select Settings.

Step 2

Choose Access and Authorization on the sidebar menu and then select Google Analytics Integration.

Step 3

Click Unlink next to the Analytics account you want to remove and then click Unlink AdSense Account in the Analytics pop-up window to finish unlinking the accounts.
