How to Write a Warlock Macro

Macros in World of Warcraft are widely used amongst enthusiasts due to their added efficiency and time-saving features. Macros can be programmed within the user interface of the game, without the need for any third-party add-ons or software. Warlocks, as any other class, can benefit from class-specific macros. You can program your own macros or you can copy them from the Internet or from other players. There are different macros for different play-styles and talent specializations.

Instructions

    • 1

Start up World of Warcraft, log in and load your warlock character.

    • 2

Type "/macro" to bring up the macro interface or press "Esc" and click the "Macro" button on the menu.

    • 3

Choose "{Yourname} Specific Macros," since you will be writing a macro to use with your warlock. General macros are for macros which any of your characters can use, such as a macro which automatically sells all grey items or says something in the chat box.

    • 4

Create a new macro by clicking the "New" on the bottom of the window. A side-window will appear where you can choose an icon for your macro. It is recommended that you keep the default icon (the red question mark), since the icon will then change automatically depending on which spell the macro is casting.

    • 5

Type your macro into the text box in the bottom of the window. Alternatively, copy and paste the macro you want into the box (see resources for helpful warlock macros). Macros have a 255 character limit.

    • 6

Drag the icon for your macro onto an action bar once you have finished writing it. If you want to assign the macro to a hot key, drag it into an action bar with the hot key specified on it.
