How to Use Windows Backup to a Linux Machine

When you use the Windows backup utility, you can choose to save the backup to a selection of DVDs, a local destination or a network location. When you have a separate Linux machine on your home network, you might find it useful to save the backup of your Windows operating system to that computer. The Windows backup utility creates a single file backup, known as a system image. This system image contains the settings needed to recover your drive as well.
