How to Pick Ripe Tropical Fruit
Tropical fruit, such as star fruit or jackfruit, isn't as widely available in most U.S. grocery stores as nontropical fruit, such as apples and peaches. A wide variety of tropical fruits from around the world have never even been exported to the U.S., but if you're lucky enough to live in a climate with tropical fruit readily available, you can pick it yourself. Tropical fruit is like any other fruit in that most of it ripens best on the tree. Most tropical fruit is highly perishable, which is why it isn't readily exported. Does this Spark an idea?
