How to Be a Sock Monkey for Halloween
Sock monkeys are funny toys with fingerless hands, wide mouths, button eyes and floppy ears. They can be original Halloween costumes with a little work. When's the last time you saw a sock monkey trick or treating between throngs of devils, witches and monsters? The best part is, it's a costume you can put together without a lot of money. Go as a cute, friendly sock monkey and impress your friends with your choice next time there's a costume party.
Things You'll Need
- Sweatpants
- Long-sleeved t-shirt
- Stocking cap
- Elbow-length gloves
- Tall socks
- White tape
- Safety pins
- Fake tail
- Child's mittens
- Red pom pom
- Halloween makeup

Put on sweatpants, a long-sleeved T-shirt and a stocking cap in the same color. Traditional sock monkeys are mostly light brown on the body.

Pull white elbow gloves over the sleeves of the shirt.

Pull long, white socks over the legs of your sweatpants, up to your knee. Secure them with white tape, if necessary.

Pin a brown tail with a white tip to your rear. You can buy one at any costume store and change the color with craft paint, if necessary.

Pin a red pom pom to the top of your stocking cap. Pin small brown mittens to the side of the stocking cap to double as ears.

Paint a large white circle around your lips. Fill your lips in bright red. Create two black circles around your eyes. Fill the rest of your face in with the same color brown as your outfit.
