How to Use a PS3 as an Internet Browser

The PlayStation 3 has a built-in Ethernet port and Wi-Fi adapter. It utilizes the Internet for features such as the PlayStation Network and Netflix. However, it is also used as an Internet browser with the built-in browser application. Since the PS3 has a USB hub, you can connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the device for convenient navigation. Additionally, you can install plug-ins such as Flash on-the-fly to view sites, such as YouTube, which require the Adobe Flash plugin.

  • Turn on the PS3.

  • Navigate to the "Network" tab in the main menu.

  • Scroll down to "www" which is the PS3 Internet browser.

  • Press "X" on the controller to open the browser.

  • Press the "Start" button to bring up an address bar which allows you to enter URLs.

  • Enter the URL with the on-screen keyboard. Or, connect a USB keyboard to enter the URL through the keyboard.

  • Press "Start" again to navigate to the web page.

  • Press the triangle button to pull up the menu. The options are "Search," "File," "Back," "Forward," "Refresh," "Home," "Bookmarks," "History" and "Exit."
