How to Recover a Toshiba L505D

Things You'll Need

  • Toshiba Satellite L505D laptop
  • AC power outlet
  • Connect the laptop to a live AC power outlet by using the cord provided with the laptop.

  • Open the lid on the laptop. Press the power button.

  • Press and hold the zero key as the computer powers on. If the laptop gives you a choice between Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit at this time, select the one that is compatible with your laptop.

  • Click the "Yes" button after reading the warning screen. This is to remind you that all the data on your computer will be deleted and rewritten.

  • Place a dot in the radio button beside "Recovery of Factory Default software." Click the "Next" button.

  • Place a dot in the radio button beside "Recover to out-of-box state." Click the "Next" button.

  • Click "Next" to begin the recovery process. The Toshiba L505D will display a progress indicator and then display a message that the system has been recovered.

  • Press a key on the keyboard. Any key will do. If in doubt, press the "Enter" key to restart the computer.

  • This procedure will delete all the partitions on your Toshiba L505D and all the information contained upon those partitions. Back up all your data before beginning the recovery process.
