Whether your iPhone is set to silent mode or not, its default behavior is to vibrate, or buzz, whenever you receive an alert. This can be handy when you want to receive alerts but might not hear your ringtone or you are in a place where you can't have it on. In some situations, you may want to turn this feature off. This can be done from the "Settings" menu on your iPhone.
Tap "Settings" on the home screen of the iPhone. This app's icon is silver-gray and looks like gears.
Press the gray button in the toggle bar next to "Vibrate" at the top of the iPhone's touch-screen. Slide it over to "On" so that "Off" displays. This enables silent mode and turns off the "Vibrate" feature.
Scroll down the page a bit further. Repeat Step 3 for the second "Vibrate," which applies to the normal sound mode.
Tips & Warnings
- If your iPhone continues buzzing after you turn off the "Vibrate" feature, take it in to your local Apple Store for service.
