Many iPhone features require an Internet connection, so it is imperative that you can acquire one. Generally, this does not demand any effort on your part, as the iPhone automatically connects to the 3G or 4G cellular network, which is essentially a cellular Internet, wherever you have cellular service. If you want a stronger signal, you must connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi, or wireless Internet, network. You can do this under "Settings."
Go to the iPhone's home screen and tap "Settings."
Press the gray button and slide it across the bar to "Off," so that "On" is showing. This turns Wi-Fi on.
Tap a wireless network to join in the list that appears below. Enter the password for the network if prompted.
Tips & Warnings
- You can only connect to wireless networks if they are available in your area and you have the password.
- Check your signal strength by looking at the icon next to your carrier's name in the upper-left corner of your iPhone's screen.
