Instructions

    • 1

Change the deodorant you are currently using. If you are using a normal deodorant, try switching to an antiperspirant that will help combat sweating, instead of just the odor.

      .

    • 2

Review the active ingredients of your deodorant. Some deodorants and antiperspirants have aluminum-based compounds that can actually cause more sweating in the underarm area and make your problem worse.

    • 3

Avoid buying or wearing shirts that are tight under the arms. The closer and more restricting clothing is to the sweaty area, the greater the chance that you will develop a stain. If you have a T-shirt that is tight in the armpits, try lightly stretching it prior to wearing.

    • 4

Wait for your antiperspirant or deodorant to fully dry under your arms prior to dressing. This will allow your deodorant to fully sink into the skin and prevents deodorant stains from forming on your shirt.

    • 5

Purchase a nighttime treatment if you have severe armpit stains. These treatments, to be applied before bed, have near-prescription strength formulas. The nightly treatment, combined with a strong daytime antiperspirant will help even the strongest sweaters from staining their clothing.

    • 6

Remove any armpit stains from your clothing immediately. This will not only help your clothes from ruin, but will prevent larger, more stubborn stains from developing. Before washing your shirt apply detergent directly under the arms. Rub the detergent in well, and launder. If you can still see the stain when the shirt comes out of the washer, do not put it in the dryer. The heat will set the stain, so let it air dry and treat again.
