How to Remove a Howse Rotary Mower Blade

Howse rotary mowers are brush mowers designed to mow down fields of hay or high grass. You connect the mower to the output shaft on a tractor. The output shaft turns a pulley system, which in turn rotates the rotary blade on the bottom of the deck. The rotary blade connects to the deck via a shaft mounted between the pulley system and the blade. With the mower deck disconnected from the output shaft of the tractor, changing the blade is straightforward.

• Wooden block
• Wrench set

Instructions

1. Lift the mower deck up and lean it against a wall so you can see the blades. If you choose, you can employ the help of a friend and place the mower deck upside-down.

2. Wedge a wooden block between the mower blade and the mower deck to demobilize the mower deck.

3. Remove the mower blade retaining bolt with a wrench. The bolt is located in the center of the blade.

4. Lift the blade off the shaft.
