How to Make a Map for Wedding Guests
Your family and close friends want to be a part of your wedding day. However, out-of-town guests may be delayed if they do not know their way around town. Include a map to the ceremony and reception venues as part of your wedding invitations. You can print maps or draw them by hand. However you decide to incorporate the maps into your invitations, the gesture will be appreciated by guests who are unfamiliar with the wedding locations.

Drawing Maps
-
1
Look up the ceremony and reception locations online. Remember to make the directions for the reception site start at the ceremony location. Start the directions to the ceremony at a central location or the hotel where you reserved rooms for your guests.
-
2
Print out one copy of the map to the ceremony site and one from the ceremony site to the reception venue. Use card stock that matches your invitations. Adjust the sizes of the maps using the "File" and "Print Preview" options. Once a new window opens, adjust the size using the "Scale" option.

3
Trim the card stock down without cutting out necessary parts of the map so it fits inside of your envelope.
-
4
Include written or typed directions on the back of each map.
-
5
Give each map a title, and underneath write the complete address of the venues including ZIP codes. Guests with a navigating system can use the addresses instead of the maps. Additionally, label with North, South, East and West on the maps. Include other location markers such as the airport or hotel where you reserved rooms for guests.
-
6
Mark the sites clearly on the maps. Draw a heart or wedding bells at the location. If you do not want to draw, use a small sticker to mark the ceremony site.

Tips & Warnings
For a larger map, cut the card stock to twice the size of your envelope so you can fold it in half before inserting it into the envelope.
To create a hand-drawn map, trace or freehand the map. Once you have perfected it, make multiple copies on a copy machine.
