How to Reset the SSL Cache in Firefox 3.6
Firefox 3 saw the introduction of a feature that allows Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, encryption data stored in the browser's cache on your hard drive. SSL is a form of encryption used to protect personal information transmitted during online transactions. The encryption ensures unauthorized computers cannot gain access to the information by establishing a digital "handshake," and a certificate stored within the Web browser undergoes verification by the computer processing the transaction. After regular use of Firefox, the cache file begins to consume a large deal of disk space. Clearing the cache from within the browser allows you to clear disk space, and removes data from sites you do not visit as frequently, but stored on your computer. When an SSL connection occurs again, the new data writes directly to the cache.
