How to Delete the Title in Powerpoint

How to Delete the Title in Powerpoint thumbnail
Most PowerPoint Layouts include a title box, which may be undesirable when displaying visual information.

PowerPoint presentations contain a number of standard text elements. Each slide in a PowerPoint presentation begins either with no text boxes or other elements or with a "Layout." The Layout places certain boxes on the slide to be populated with your choice of wording. One of the most common boxes placed in the predetermined Layout is the "Title" box. Most Layouts in PowerPoint have a Title on each slide, but in certain cases, this is undesirable and must be removed. The Title can be removed on a slide-by-slide basis or by removing the tag from your layout entirely.

Instructions

  1. Removing the Title in Individual Slides

    • 1

Create a new presentation in PowerPoint by opening the program and selecting "New" from the "File" menu.

    • 2

Right-click the first slide and select a "Layout" that fits the needs of your presentation. The Layout will create certain text and/or picture boxes on each of your slides.

    • 3

Create new slides by clicking the "New Slide" button in the "Home" tab or by typing "Ctrl+M."

    • 4

Populate the boxes on each slide with the information you wish to display. If you encounter a slide that you wish to have a different layout, select only that one slide by clicking it in the left pane. Then right-click the slide in the main window and scroll to "Layout." Select the Layout for that particular slide.

    • 5

Select any text or title boxes you do not want on your slide by clicking the edge of the box. When selecting the box, click the border rather than the inside of the box. Clicking inside the box does not select the box, but allows you to edit the contents of the box.

    • 6

Delete the selected boxes that you wish to remove by clicking on the "Delete" key while the box is selected. Alternately, you can right-click the box and select "Cut."

Removing the Title from all Slides

    • 7

Select the "View" tab on the top of the PowerPoint window. Select the "Slide Master" button.

    • 8

Select a Layout to edit. If you wish to completely customize the Layout of your slides, begin with the "Blank" layout and place text holders where you wish to place them. Finish editing the single slide in the Master Slide until you're satisfied with the Layout.

    • 9

Right-click the slide you are editing in the left pane and select "Rename Layout." Type a name for the Layout that will help you remember which Layout you have just created.

    • 10

Navigate to the "Home" tab and select "Close Master View." All slides you create will now use your customized Layout, which you can also select for future presentations from the list of available Layouts.
