How to Recycle Cat Litter
Cats can produce a mass amount of stinky litter every year. Kitty litter is often riddled with chemicals that are bad for the environment. Fortunately, several ways are available to recycle cat litter that can often be a benefit to the environment and to you. Instead of using the cat litter for a single purpose, begin its journey after the cat has finished its business and put that litter to use.

1
Scoop the cat feces out of the litter box and put it into a plastic bag and then into the garbage. You could also grind the feces and put it in your garden as fertilizer.
-
2
Pour the cat litter into cracks in your driveway. Pack it down with your hand. You might want to wear a glove. You can also fill pot holes with the litter. Spread the litter out and spray it with a hose to avoid the nasty smell of urine.

Put the cat litter on poison ivy and weeds to kill them. Standard cat litter, however, is not environmentally friendly, so you should not use this method in large amounts.
-
4
Use cat litter that is made from more environmentally friendly material, such as wood pellets. This type of cat litter breaks down much more effectively than regular cat litter and you can put it in you compost.
