How to Get Back Deleted Internet History

Recovering lost web pages once your browsing history has been deleted is not a difficult task. You may wish to restore your Internet history if you forgot to save a certain page that you wish to revisit or monitor your child's Internet activity. To restore Internet browsing history, you must use your operating system's "System Restore" feature. System restore is only available for Windows users. Older Mac versions do not allow for recovery and newer versions require a recovery disc.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the Windows icon in the lower left hand corner of your task bar. This will bring up a drop down menu. Choose "Control Panel" to access computer maintenance options.

    • 2

Choose the task labeled "System and Security." This task menu is designed to help make temporary or permanent changes to your operating system and restore lost files.

    • 3

Click on "Restore Your Computer to an Earlier Time" under the Action Center list. You will be asked once again if you wish to initialize your computer's system restore. Choose "Open System Restore."

    • 4

Choose the desired time and date you wish to restore your computer to. This would be the date just before you deleted your browsing history. Click "OK." Your computer will then create a system restore point.

    • 5

Wait the required amount of time, depending on your processor speed. System Restore does take time to complete and your computer will restart before the action is finished. Once your computer comes back on, you will be asked to exit the System Restore program.

    • 6

Search your Internet history files once you have exited the system restore. If you are still unable to locate the desired web page, perform System Restore again, choosing an earlier date than the last restore point date.

Tips & Warnings

  • Please note, this process will only work if you have been faithfully backing up your computer system.
