How to Make an Ebook Cover With Gimp
Although one should never judge a book by it's cover, authors still want a pleasant presentation to adorn their work. With Gimp image manipulation software, you can easily place an appropriate image to your book cover and add for text for the title and for your name.

Select the picture you would like to use for your book cover. Launch Gimp. Select the top left file menu, and select "Open." Choose your cover picture from the files on your hard drive, and select "Open" at the bottom of the window.

Select "Image" from the top toolbar, and scroll down to click on canvas size. Ensure the canvas dimensions are set to 1848 by 2768. This will ensure that if you choose to print your cover, it will come out large enough.

Select the rectangle selection tool, and drag to create a frame around your picture. Ensure you leave the appropriate space outside of the selection to place your text. You can re-size the frame by dragging the corners.

Choose the color fill tool, and select your choice of color for the frame. Choose "Select" from the top toolbar, and scroll down to select "Invert", and fill the frame with color.

Select the alphabet tool. Set the font to 280 to ensure it's large enough to be seen well on the large image size. Click the appropriate point within your image, and drag to create a text box. if needed, you can change the size by dragging the corners.

Type your text into "Gimp Text Editor" box. You can drag the text box to move it around, if necessary. Select "Save" from the file menu. Ensure you select the png file format. When the prompt asks you to export the image, do so by selecting "Export" in the box.
