How to Send Care Packages With Bibles to Troops thumbnail
Sending the Bible gives faith, hope and strength to military members.

Sending packages to United States military members is a good way of keeping in contact with loved ones serving abroad. Bibles serve as an inspirational religious source for many Christian military members. They provide reading, support and motivation for many military members. Care packages can also include non-perishable food items, toiletries and personal letters of love and support. When sending a Bible to a service member abroad, consider the conditions where the package is being sent and carefully address the package so it reaches your service member.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase the type or version of the Bible that you wish to send to your United States military member stationed overseas. Some religious organizations, like The Gideons International, will send free Bibles to overseas troops if they receive written writing from a military chaplain.

    • 2

Do not let the package exceed 70 pounds in weight or 130 inches in length and girth. Packages that exceed these measurements cannot be delivered to Military Post Offices (MPOs).

    • 3

Package and seal the package for extreme desert temperatures. Use a strong cardboard box, clear of other markings. Seal the openings and sides of the box with 2-inch packaging tape.

    • 4

Include a card in the package that describes the box's contents and also includes the military member's full name and military address, in case the package is searched or damaged during shipping.

    • 5

Address the package neatly and carefully: use the military member's full name, include the military member's unit and Air/Army Post Office or Fleet Post Office (APO or FPO) and a return address. Print the shipping address and return address on one side of the package.

    • 6

Send the package via the United States Postal Service. All military packages must be sent through the USPS and no other shipping or mail service.
