Stop being clingy and start enjoying your healthy relationship.

As a general rule, women tend to be more clingy than men in relationships, and some women are much clingier than others. Whether this is because women are "programmed" to be clingy or because men just hide it better, the world may never know. Let's face it, clingy is not attractive. Fortunately, the act of being clingy is easily overcome, and, hopefully, the psychological aspect will follow suit.

Instructions

    • 1

Think before you call, text or email. Clingy and needy women tend to over-communicate with their guys. Do you really need to tell him where you are at every second? If the communication doesn't enhance his life, save it for when you're hanging out.

    • 2

Make your own plans. Make plans to see your friends and to focus on your hobbies. If you don't have hobbies, now is the time to pick one up. Men love independent women, and if you're doing something you love, you'll keep your mind off of him, making it much easier to avoid appearing needy.

    • 3

Trust him. If you are confident that your guy makes smart choices, you don't need to be around all the time to regulate. He'll appreciate that you trust him, creating the foundation for a healthy relationship.

    • 4

Play up your good qualities, and be confident. Women often become clingy because they are insecure about their relationship. Focusing on all of the reasons you have to be confident will help you work through the feelings that possess you to act clingy.

    • 5

Practice self-therapy. When you're feeling overwhelmed by needy and clingy emotions, find a positive outlet for it. Write about it, paint, go for a run or take a yoga class. Soothing activities will quiet your mind and help you think before you act.
