The Columbia Sportswear Company is an organization that has been around since the 1930s and offers a wide variety of clothing, shoes and accessories designed for use in the outdoors. If you own a Columbia jacket and discover a grease stain on it, you may panic at first. Luckily, you can remove many grease stains from these types of jackets if you treat the problem quickly and with the right cleaning methods.
Things You'll Need
- Baking soda or corn starch
- Stain remover stick or spray
- Laundry detergent
Sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch on the stained area to soak up excess oil. Brush the baking soda or cornstarch off with a toothbrush after you've let it sit on the jacket for approximately five minutes.
Apply pre-wash stain remover to the grease stain and rub the fabric together. Let the stain remover soak in for about 15 minutes. You can use any major stain remover as long as it doesn't contain bleach.
Launder the jacket according to the instructions on the label. As for general Columbia outwear guidelines, you should use a mild, powered laundry detergent with low phosphates. Rinse the jacket twice.
Hang your Columbia jacket up to dry. Most Columbia jackets can be dried on a low setting, but hanging them in a well-ventilated area is the best method for drying.
