How to Hyperlink a Section of One Word Document to Another

If you have a long Word document such as a report and want readers to be able to find information quickly, you can include hyperlinks within the document. Readers can hold "Ctrl" and left-click to follow the hyperlink to the desired section of the document. Creating hyperlinks within a document allows you to create an interactive table of contents and make information easier to find.

      Highlight the section of the text you intend to link to.

      Click the "Insert" tab, then "Bookmark" in the "Links" group.

      Give the bookmark a descriptive name such as "Chapter1" and click "Add."

      Place the cursor where you want the link text.

      Click "Hyperlink" in the "Links" tab, and then click "Bookmark." Click the bookmark and click "OK." Edit the link text in the "Text to display" field in the "Link Text" dialog box. Click "OK."
