How to Install a MicroMICR 36A Printer Cartridge

The Hewlett Packard 1505 LaserJet uses a 36A toner cartridge for every day printing. If you want to print checks with your HP 1505 printer you need magnetic ink character recognition -- MICR -- ink or toner. The microMICR company is the producer if MICR toner cartridges for Hewlett Packard. The microMICR 36A toner cartridge is the cartridge to use for printing checks with your HP 1505 LaserJet printer.

Instructions

1. Open the print cartridge door on top of the LaserJet printer and lift out old toner cartridge.

2. Remove the new toner cartridge from its package. The HP owner's manual advises holding the cartridge at the ends to avoid any chance of damage.

3. Remove the security tab from the cartridge by pulling the tab straight out from the end of the cartridge until the tab and tape is completely removed.

4. Distribute the toner inside the cartridge by rocking the cartridge gently back and forth.

5. Install the new toner cartridge into the same position as the one you removed and close the printer cover. The cartridge fits into position without any locking mechanism.

Tips & Warnings

• Recycle the used toner cartridge. The new toner box provides recycling directions. The pull tab from the new cartridge should go with the old cartridge for recycling.

• Remove toner from your clothes with a dry cloth or wash in cold water only. Printer toner is heat activated and washing in hot water will permanently set the black toner into clothes.
