How to Connect a MacBook Pro to a Gateway Laptop Over the Network
Computers installed in a Microsoft Windows-based networking environment use the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol to share files and printers with each other. Apple MacBook Pro computers use the Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) natively for the same purpose. However, MacBook Pro computers can also use the SMB protocol to communicate with Microsoft Windows computers. You can connect a MacBook Pro to a Gateway laptop running Microsoft Windows over the network through the Mac's "Finder" interface.
