Many printers will not work without the necessary drivers.

If you lose the CD for your printer there are other ways to get the drivers and utilities you need. Most computer and computer accessory manufacturers keep a database on their website of all the software needed to run their products. It is often a good idea to use this downloaded software instead of the software found on the CD that came with the device because there might be important software upgrades that are missing from the CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the page on the Brother website for the MFC-7220 printer. It can be found by going to the Brother website (welcome.solutions.brother.com), clicking on "Support" in the upper menu, clicking on "Software Downloads," selecting "Multi-Function Center" from the drop-down menu and finally selecting MFC-7220 from the second drop-down menu that appears.

    • 2

Select your operating system from the choices under "Step 1: Select OS." Select your language from the choices under "Step 2: Select Language." Click on "Search."

    • 3

Click "Download and Information" under the appropriate section. If you want to replace everything on the CD then the appropriate section is "Full Driver & Software Package."

    • 4

Click on "Download" to download the file, and follow the instructions on the page under "How to Download and Install" to install the software and get your printer working.
