How to Find Ex-Military People

Locating ex-military people requires some diligence.

The Internet has made locating people a much simpler process than it used to be. What used to take hours and sometimes weeks of research can now often be completed in seconds with the click of a mouse. If the person you are searching for used to be in the military, you have additional resources available to you when conducting your search. Finding ex-military people may require you to do some additional searches if the person doesn't want to be found and avoids online contact.

Instructions

1. Enter the person's name into an online search engine to see if the search results yield information that you can use. That will sometimes be all you need to find someone, whether they were in the military or not.

2. Enter the person's name into social networking sites. If the site has a search filter for military, utilize that if you know which branch the person served in.

3. Visit social sites that are military-specific. Together We Served and Military Spot are two sites designed to connect people with military experience and assist in finding people who served.

4. Contact the military branch the person you're searching for served under. They might be able to assist in locating the current whereabouts of the person, depending on the circumstances.

5. Place a classified ad in the newspaper or on job websites if you are looking for ex-military people in general for employment purposes. You can then review resumes and information that you receive to determine if the applicants have the experience you are looking for.
