How to Make Taco Powder
You can find taco seasoning powder in just about any grocery store. While tasty, it often comes packed with plenty of unnecessary ingredients. Instead, make your own taco powder at home. All you need is a mixture of dried herbs, spices, and seasonings, which you then add to your usual taco fillings. This recipe make enough taco powder to season one pound of meat or vegetables. Things You'll Need
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 3/4 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 tsp. oregano

Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix together until all spices are well combined.

Store mixture in an airtight container at room temperature until you are ready to use it. You can multiply the portion sizes to have enough seasoning for several batches of tacos. Store in a cool, dry place for up to one year.

Add the seasoning to ground beef, ground turkey, vegetables or chicken when the food is about halfway finished cooking. Complete cooking as usual.

Tips & Warnings
Vary the spice mixture according to your tastes. For a spicier blend, try adding a small amount of cayenne pepper.
