How to Find Deleted Internet History Files on a Hard Drive
Your internet history is a detailed log of your web surfing activity, and contains all the websites you visited during a certain period of time. Deleting your internet history files may clean out old information and improve internet browsing speeds, but the files are not permanently removed from your computer. If you need to access or restore the internet history files, there are several ways to do this.

Find With System Recovery

Click on "Start" on your desktop, then click on "Programs."

Click "Accessories", "System Tools" and then click "System Restore."

Select a restore date that is prior to when the internet history files were deleted.

Begin the restoration by clicking "Next." The deleted files will be restored to their original place.
Find With Windows Search

Download a Dat reader. You will need this program to read the deleted internet history contained in .dat files.

Click on "Start" from your desktop, then click on "Search" and "Show all Files and Folders."

Click on "C Drive" and type in "index.dat" in the search field. Click "Search" to find the file.

Open the file with the Dat reader. The Dat reader can now read and restore the deleted files to their original place.
