Remove the geotags from your phone to prevent someone from accessing your location.

If you want to keep the location of your pictures private, you will need to remove the geotag option from your cellphone. Geotagging embeds the location where your photograph was taken inside the image itself. This can allow other people to retrieve this information from your photographs at will. To remove the geotag from your photographs, you must disable the location or GPS feature on your mobile phone.

Instructions

  1. Camera Location Settings

    • 1

Launch the camera option on your phone.

    • 2

Press the "Menu" or "Options" key and select the "Location" option.

    • 3

Select the option to disable geotagging or turn off the location setting for your camera.

    • 4

Select "Save" if prompted to do so and return to the main menu to allow the change to take effect.

    GPS Location Settings

    • 5

Press the "Menu" key on your mobile phone and select "Settings" to open the menu.

    • 6

Select the option "Location" or "GPS." Depending upon the model of your phone, you may need to select "General" or "Device" before you will see the "Location" option.

    • 7

Select the option to disable your location or GPS satellite. If you have an Android-powered phone, you may need to un-check both the "Use Wireless Networks" and "Use GPS Satellites" boxes.

    • 8

Select "Save" if prompted to do so and return to the main menu to allow the change to take effect.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will need to enable the location settings on your mobile phone to use the GPS on your device.
