How to Convert a MSG File to EML

Convert your Outlook MSG files to EML for use on other systems.

If you've been using MS Outlook for years but would now like to change to Outlook Express or a different email client altogether, you can convert your messages quite simply using a message converter. These programs can convert MSG (Outlook) files to EML (Outlook Express and other mail clients) files. Some programs, such as Outlook MSG and EML Converter, can even convert your email messages to HTM, RTF or TXT files so you can view them in your browser or word processor with ease.

Instructions

1. Download a message converter such as Outlook EML and MSG Converter (see Resource 2 for link). Click on free trial or purchase. Select "Save File" then click on the downloaded EXE file to install.

2. Click on the Outlook EML and MSG Converter icon to open the program.

3. Select "EML" in the Output Type section. Click the yellow folder icon beside the "Input Folder Location." Navigate to the folder where you've saved your MSG files. Click "OK." Click the yellow folder icon beside the "Output Folder Location." Click "Make New Folder." Type in a name for your new folder and click "OK."

4. Click "Start Converting Email Using Outlook Now!"
