How to Connect Sony TVs to Computers
You're sitting in front of your Sony television set with your laptop in hand. Instead of watching movies or viewing photos on your television, you are stuck watching them on your laptop or desktop. With the help of VGA, S-video and DVI ports and cables, you can use your Sony television as a monitor for your desktop or laptop. All televisions will have at least one of these compatible ports.

1
Look at the connections your television and computer contain. Computers commonly have S-video and VGA ports to which you can connect a television set. You must make sure that both your computer and Sony television have the same type of connection.
-
2
Count the number of holes your S-video port contains. S-video cables are sold in four and seven-pin types and are the only cables that come in variations; a four pin-type will have four holes while a seven will have seven holes. Both your computer and television must have the same pin port.

Turn the computer off. Connect the appropriate cables to the computer and to the television. Set your Sony television to the appropriate input and output.
