How to Draw a Cartoon Boy & Girl
A boy or girl cartoon character's body is basically the same because their bodies are not mature. The features will be the same, such as the straight shape of the waist or a pudgy stomach. To distinguish between a boy and girl, details may be added like longer eyelashes for the girl. Types of clothing will also help. Artists will draw stripes for a boy's T-shirt and create a scallop neckline for the girl's T-shirt.

1
Draw an action line to determine the action of the boy and girl. If the figure is kicking a soccer ball, draw an action to represent the foot on the ground and another to represent the leg in the air kicking the soccer ball.
-
2
Draw in shapes along the action line to represent body parts, such as a circle shape for the head and ovals for the hands and feet.

-
3
Add definition and details to the body form by drawing a line around the shapes to connect different shapes. For example, draw a line on each side of the hand shape to create an arm that will connect to the body.
-
4
Create one shape for the hair and have it rest above the skull. Create a second shape for a ponytail or braid for the girl.
-
5
Create clothing to help distinguish between the sexes, like a scalloped-neck T-shirt for the girl and striped T-shirt for the boy.
-
6
Erase any lines not needed. Go over the remaining lines with a black pen.
