How to Eject a DVD From a Laptop

If you are a new computer user, you may not know fully how to operate the different hardware and software components included in your machine. Modern laptops come with a standard CD/DVD drive that is capable of playing audio and video CDs and DVDs. You also can use a software CD or DVD to install or troubleshoot a particular application on your system. Inserting and ejecting a DVD from your laptop is a simple task.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Power" button to turn your laptop on.

    • 2

Look around the sides of your laptop to locate the CD/DVD drive. It typically has a CD/DVD icon on it.

    • 3

Press the "Open" button on the CD/DVD drive. The CD/DVD tray will slide out. Lift the DVD from the tray. Slide the tray back until it clicks into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • If for any reason your CD/DVD drive gets stuck and does not budge even after pressing the "Eject" button, take a small pin or needle and insert it into the tiny hole next to the "Eject" button until the CD/DVD tray slides out. After removing the DVD, insert the tray back as you normally would.
