How to Block Websites on My Business Computer
The Internet is littered with Web pages that you may want to avoid. This is particularly true on a business computer where you may want to take extra care to avoid malicious websites and websites that may waste time, such as social networking websites. Fortunately, you can block websites by editing a file that can be found in all versions of the Windows operating system. Blocking websites in this manner will block the websites from all browsers.

Click "Start" and type "Notepad" into the search field.

Right-click "Notepad" in the results list and select "Run As Administrator." Notepad opens.

Click "File," "Open" and browse to the following file.
SystemRoot/System32/Drivers/Etc/Hosts

Double-click the "Hosts" file to open the file.

Scroll to the end of the file and type the following text. Note that "website1.com" should be replaced with the name of the website you wish to block.
127.0.0.1 website1.com website2.com website3.com

Click "File" and "Save." The specified websites are now blocked.
