How to Clean a Pen Tablet

How to Clean a Pen Tablet thumbnail
Keep your pen tablets clean and operational with regular maintenance.

A pen tablet is a computing platform that uses touch-screen technology to allow input by using your fingers directly on the screen or a specialized plastic stylus input device. Unfortunately, because the screens are touched so often by hands that may have oils or dirt on them, then screens of the devices need regular cleaning to retain their effectiveness. Though created of hardy materials, the screens are still LCD based, so cleaning must be done in such a way as not to cause scratches to the screen or damage to the tablet's components.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Dampen a clean soft static and lint-free cloth with water, and then wring the cloth out well so that no leakage occurs.

    • 2

Wipe the tablet LCD screen with the damp cloth. Rub the screen gently using a light circular motion to remove any dirt. Change the face of the cloth if a large piece of dirt dislodges from the screen to prevent scratching the screen with the grit.

    • 3

Clean the sides of the tablet and the LCD frame with a microfiber cloth. Spray the cloth with a mild detergent solution to aid in cleaning. Avoid getting any of the cleaning solution on the screen as you clean the case.

    • 4

Wipe off the soap residue with a cloth dampened with clean water only, and then pat the case dry with a dry piece of cloth.

    • 5

Clean the tablet stylus with the same mild detergent mixture used to clean the case. Rinse with a water-dampened cloth, and then pat dry with a clean dry cloth.

    • 6

Clean the keyboard with a can of compressed air and straw attachment. Spray the air at the base of the keys to remove dust. Use a water-dampened cloth to clean the surface of the keys.

Tips & Warnings

  • Create a routine cleaning schedule. Clean the device daily for heavy use or multiple users, weekly for standard usage, or monthly if usage is only occasional.

  • Use 5 percent isopropyl alcohol to disinfect the pen tablet if used in medical treatment facility, cleaning between each patient use.
