How to Sync the Kindle and iPhone to a Computer

The Kindle uses wireless syncing to keep track of your information.

The Whispersync wireless network operated by Amazon.com automatically updates the last page that you've read in any Kindle e-book. This is especially convenient if you are using multiple devices to access your Kindle books. To manage your Kindle editions between your PC, Kindle and iPhone, you will need to install and authorize two applications: Kindle for PC and Kindle for iPhone. Once both devices are linked to your Kindle account at Amazon.com, you will be able to read your e-books on any of the devices without losing your page.

Kindle for PC

  Download and install the "Kindle for PC" application to your computer.

  Open "Kindle for PC" after the installation is complete. When prompted, fill in the email address and password of the Amazon.com account associated with your Kindle.

  Click "Register" to link the Kindle for PC application to your account.
Kindle for iPhone

  Download and install the "Kindle for iPhone" application. This software is available free of charge through Apple's App store on your iPhone and on iTunes.

  Tap the "Kindle" icon on your iPhone's home screen to start the application. Enter the email address and password for your Amazon.com account.

  Tap the "Register" button to link the Kindle for iPhone app to your Kindle and your computer.

Tips & Warnings

You can send books to your applications by going to your "Manage Your Kindle" page. Scroll down to "Your Orders" and select "Kindle for PC" or "Kindle for iPhone" from the "Deliver to..." menu.
You will need wireless turned on when reading on your Kindle to make sure that your location is updated on your computer and iPhone.
You can manage the devices synced to your Kindle account through the "Manage Your Kindle" page on the Amazon website.
If you sign out of the Kindle application on your PC or your iPhone, it will no longer sync your Kindle data. This can be remedied by registering your account again.
